My Z724 is acting up. The engine runs great, but after using the PTO for a bit, the whole thing starts to die. If I stop using the PTO, the engine keeps running. I've replaced the PTO switch and checked the clutch and fuses, but no luck. Any ideas on what could be causing this electrical issue?

Could be a faulty safety switch or a wiring issue. double check the seat and brake switches and all PTO related wiring for loose connections or shorts that may be cutting the power when the PTO's engaged

Could be the PTO clutch drawing too much current when it heats up, also you could check the charging system, now the PTO can be pulling more than the system can replenish and in that case you see that your voltage might be dropping too low and triggering a shutdown, run it with a voltmeter and watch what happens when you kick the PTO on and let it run a while
