TRACTOR/MOWER PREPARATIONMULCHING KIT INSTALLATION1. Park tractor on level surface.2. Set parking brake.3. Stop engine and remove key.4. Discharge defl ector must remain installed at all times.1. Remove mower deck and turn over so bladesare exposed (facing up). Carefully remove alldebris from underside of deck.2. Remove all mower blades and save mountinghardware. This hardware will be usedagain. To prohibit blades from turning whileloosening bolts, it willbe necessary to wedge ablock of wood between the blade and mowerhousing. (See Figure 1.)3. Join the right and left baffl e plates together.Do not tighten the bolt. Place the baffl e platesin the mower deck. Clamp in place insuringthat they are parallel with the deck. (SeeFigure 2.)NOTE: To remove mower deck,consult your owners’manual.4. Using the baffl es as templates, center puncheach mounting hole 5. Remove the baffl es and using an 11/32 (.344)diameter drill bit, drill each mounting hole.Deburr each hole. 6. Using mounting hardware provided, installleft and right baffl e plates. Bolts should beinstalled from the bottom side of the deck.Nuts should be installed on the top side of thedeck. Install bolts loosely until all bolts are inplace. Then tighten all hardware.5. Remove the baffl es and using an 11/32 (.344)diameter drill bit, drill each mounting hole.Deburr each hole.7. Using the blade mounting hardware removedin Step 2, install the new mulching bladesordered separately, referring to Figure3 or Figure 4 depending on the mowerdeck model. Torque the blade bolt asrecommended in the operators’ manual for thetractor.NOTE: To install mower deck,consult your owners’manual.Prior to drilling mounting holes, insure there are no obstacleson the top side of the deck for the drill to interfere with.CAUTION:8. Rotate the blades by hand to check forinterference prior reinstalling the mowerdeck. If the blades make any contact with thebaffl es, make the necessary adjustments toeliminate the interference.9. Reinstall mower deck.11. If mulching baffl es are removed, reinstallmounting hardware and tighten securely.10. Torque all bolts according to specifi cations.
