Helping my uncle fix up his old T1600 mower and the ignition coil is shot. We grabbed an aftermarket one online but the bolt spacing was way off. Is there a brand that lines up with stock hardware?

I recently fixed up my old T1600 mower and encountered the same problem we always have, aftermarket coils frequently don't align well with the original bolt holes. What ended up working for me was finding a coil designed specifically for that model, like the BroEngine one. And remember to adjust the air gap between the coil and the flywheel correctly, it really impacts how well it performs

Do you think it's better to waste time hunting for the "right" aftermarket parts that never quite fit, or just bite the bullet and buy the OEM stuff even if it costs more upfront?

I appreciate you sharing that brand name and the tip about the air gap. It's somehow good to know we aren't the only ones who've had this issue. Will look for that BroEngine coil right now. @kubot4nicalgard3ns

I understand the appeal of an OEM part but your advice doesn't help much. The whole reason for asking here is to find out which aftermarket parts actually work. Someone always knows a good part that saves some money. @Aamie Pajo

Have you found an ignition coil that fits your mower?
If not, maybe The ROP Shop is worth looking into.
They offer coils compatible with the Kubota 12581-68900 part number.
But yeah, some aftermarket options often have slight variations so you always have to double-check the exact part number and compare if they look identical to the original.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep a note of The ROP Shop for other parts.

We actually ordered the BroEngine coil after the first reply and got it installed last weekend. The bolt holes lined up correctly and the mower started right up once we set the air gap. Happy to have the machine running again.
