Have you ever resolved the sputtering issue last Oct or are you still chasing it down? If you think grass clippings are the problem, start by checking the air intake and cooling fins around the engine. A clogged air filter or blocked cooling path can cause poor combustion and overheating. Inspect the fuel line and filter, as debris can enter and restrict the flow. If the carburetor hasn't been cleaned in a while, it may be worth removing it and inspecting for varnish or buildup.
