Oh man, been there, replacing that fan belt sounds simple until you're three knuckles deep and questioning your life choices. If you've got the tensioner all the way loose and it's still not sliding on, check the alternator, it might need a little wiggle or a nudge to give you just that extra bit of slack, sometimes they kinda stick in place even when loose.Anyone replaced the fan belt on a Kubota L3901? so I loosened the tensioner all the way, but the belt still won't slip over the pulley. Am I missing something here, or is there a trick to it? Appreciate any tips please I'm tired
If the tensioner is maxed and it still won't budge, definitely try loosening the alternator bolts too. Do everything here by hand so you can avoid unnecessary damage.Anyone replaced the fan belt on a Kubota L3901? so I loosened the tensioner all the way, but the belt still won't slip over the pulley. Ah, that explains a lot! I was trying to swap the belt on my L3901 and thought the tensioner was stuck. Once I figured out the alternator trick, it was smooth sailing. Took a pry bar and a bit of patience, but way easier than I expected. Thanks for laying it out so clearly! The problem is that simply loosening the tensioner bolt isn't enough to create slack. On many Kubota models, the alternator acts as the tensioner pulley. You loosen a couple of bolts on the alternator and then you have to manually pivot the alternator toward the engine to get the belt off. It's a two-part process... loosening the bolts and then manually moving the alternator. Once you know that, it's a much more straightforward job. Good luck!
