You might hear a squeal or notice a slip, but pulling off half the covers feels like a monumental task.
So, before you reach for the wrenches, what are some quick ways to check the condition and tension of your drive belt without removing it?
Share your tips and tricks!

Once had a belt start slipping right in the middle of a job and it almost drove me crazy. Instead of instantly removing the covers, I pinched the belt in the middle to check for any play and looked for any glazing. Just ten minutes later, I knew exactly what I needed no battling with bolts necessary

There was a day when my loader squealed so loudly that I thought my neighbors would end up calling the cops. A quick test with my finger and a spin of each pulley showed I had a frayed edge and some loose tension. I had it fixed in no time. The lesson? Sometimes a quick check is better than doing a full disassembly.

The first time I heard that squeal, my instinct was to rip the whole machine apart.
But with just a quick twist on the belt, a glance at the alignment, and checking the pulleys for any wobble, I saved myself a lot of hassle.
Sometimes, just paying attention to the small stuff can make a huge difference.

There was a time I let a slipping belt slide, and it cost me a fried alternator.
Now, I make it a point to tap, twist, and check the tension indicators before diving in.
It feels a bit like having a cheat code, but you'd be surprised at what you can notice without taking everything apart.
