The first thing I do is check the radiator screen for any grass clippings and dust. I blew mine out with a leaf blower last summer, and the temp dropped by about twenty degrees right away. I had some overheating problems with my L3301 last year.
It turned out the coolant was low and pretty dirty.
After flushing the system and adding fresh coolant, the issue was resolved.

Don’t forget to check your fan belt tension too. Mine was slipping under load, which caused temp spikes.
Tightened it up in just five minutes and haven’t had any issues since.
