You start the engine, hit the gas, and it feels like it’s running on empty. You check the filters, fuel, and sensors, all while wondering where the power has gone. What’s your first move when you notice your engine isn’t performing well? Share your best troubleshooting tips.

Was mowing when my tractor suddenly lost power, and I thought it was toast. Turns out, a clogged pre-filter was the issue. Now, I kick things off by checking the air, fuel flow, and quickly going over the sensors before I start to freak out. Spending just ten minutes on these basics usually saves me a long, costly afternoon.

The first time I felt my engine struggling, I automatically blamed bad fuel and braced for the worst.
In reality, it was just a dirty air filter and a loose connector.
I learned to check the simple things first air, fuel, codes, and hoses.
Fixing problems quickly feels a lot better than guessing and swapping out parts that are still good.

I once limped home convinced my engine was done for, only to discover a cracked fuel line that was sucking in air. Since then, I’ve made it a point to do visual checks, clean the filters, scan for codes, and run pressure tests. It helps me stay calm and gets me back to work before my coffee even has a chance to cool down.
