How to check axles and driveshafts for play or vibration

I've noticed this annoying vibration in my L4701 that definitely wasn't there last month, and I'm trying to figure out if it's the driveshaft u-joints acting up or if there's some axle play starting to develop. What’s your go-to inspection routine for checking drivetrain components before that vibration turns into a costly breakdown right in the middle of the field?

Lift each wheel one at a time and spin them by hand. Listen for any grinding noises or feel for roughness in the bearings. Then, grab the driveshaft and twist each u-joint to check for any movement.
