My pops has a 2019 Kubota B2650 with a front loader and backhoe, and he's looking to get a 4 way snowplow for it.
He wants me to take care of it, and I'm hoping someone with some experience can help me out here.

Do we need to add a separate plow controller to the existing control stick to run the plow? Or will the standard loader controls (up/down and tilt) be able to operate all the functions of the plow without any modifications?

Any tips on how to do this more easily? Any advice would be a huge help! Thanks.

You'll need a separate controller or diverter valve to run all 4 functions on a 4 way plow. The stock loader joystick only handles two functions which is to lift and curl, so you won't get full angle control without adding something. A hydraulic diverter kit or electric valve setup is the usual route.

Expecting the standard loader controls to fully operate a 4-way snowplow without added controllers is naive, manufacturers purposely keep controls basic, forcing buyers to spend more on upgrades. It's a money grab disguised as easy compatibility

You're absolutely right. OEMs typically only design loader controls for basic lift and tilt functions. If you want the full plow experience, it requires additional valves or controllers, and they've integrated that upgrade option right into their sales strategy

Just to build up on what the others said, a four-way plow needs at least two more functions, usually for angling left and right, and sometimes another for tilt. You'll need to add a third function valve to the tractor's hydraulics to get that extra control. Aftermarket kits are available that tie into the existing hydraulic lines. You can also get a joystick with more buttons or a separate controller to run those extra functions. Definitely worth the investment for the ease of use!
