For me, it was all about the early-morning hustle in the kitchen, relatives coming in from everywhere, and that buzz of excitement knowing the day would be overflowing with food and laughter.

How did you spend your holidays as a child?

I'm old so when you ask that question it's probably dated. My Father's family lived too far away but my Mother's family were all close enough to attend all the holidays My Mother had thee brothers and two sisters and they all took turns having Thanksgiving. When it was her turn they all came to our house with a specialty dish to pass. The hostess always prepared the turkey, or sometimes goose and the bread. The rest was provided by sisters and sister in laws. I loved it. We ate around one and then the men played cards all afternoon. Around six, we all ate again and the everyone left for home. My Wife and I try to continue that practice, but sadly most of our family is either dead or live long distances away.

That sounds like a nice tradition. Family get-togethers during the holidays? Can't beat them. It's cool that you and your wife are keeping it going, even though things are different now. Thanks for sharing that story!
