Trying to reinstall a roll pin on my Kubota B2601's mid PTO shaft and it's turning into way more of a hassle than I expected, the original pin came out with some coaxing, but getting the new one to seat properly is a different story, I've used youtube and I've tried to line everything up well, tried both tapered punches and a vise, but either it stops halfway or mushrooms before it's flush, what am I missing please and how can I get it right, any help will be appreciated of course

I had a similar issue reinstalling the roll pin on my B2401 last summer. A bit of lube on the edges and tapping gently with a flat punch helped guide it through cleanly. you can try that if you haven't yet.

Make sure the hole is clean and free from any debris. Use a drift punch that's a bit smaller than the pin and apply steady pressure. You might want to think about using a hydraulic press for more consistent force.
