Music or silence while working?

You're covered in grease or mud, tools rattling around you, and suddenly you wonder should you pump up the volume with some music to keep the vibe going, or is it better to let the silence help you focus? What’s your work jam, or do you lean towards the quiet side?

I love music, especially when I'm working in the mud. A bit of classic rock or country really gets me into it. While silence can help with focus, music really keeps the momentum going.

Give me music any day! There's nothing like some classic rock to drown out the clanging of tools. It keeps the energy up, even when everything feels messy and the tasks seem never-ending

Used to rely on silence to concentrate, but now I've got a playlist for every mood rock, country, or even a bit of rap. It definitely makes the hard work feel a lot easier.

You’ve got to have good music going.
Classic rock really helps drown out the noise of the grinder.
It turns that racket into a beat.
When it's silent, all you can hear are the mistakes just waiting to happen.

Definitely on Team Loud. I crank up the metal or punk. It’s less about concentrating and more about keeping the energy up. That music helps direct my frustration into the work instead of taking it out on my hands

It really depends on the task at hand.
If I’m just doing repetitive wrench work, I like to listen to podcasts.

But for anything that needs serious concentration, I prefer complete silence.
The sounds of the work provide enough focus for me.
