SAFE OPERATION Careful operation is your best insurance against anaccident.Read and understand this manual carefully beforeoperating the tractor.All operators, no matter how much they haveexperienced, should read this and other relatedmanuals before operating the tractor or any implementattached to it. It is the owner's obligation to instruct alloperators in safe operation.PRECAUTIONS BEFOREOPERATING THE TRACTORKnow your equipment and its limitations.Read this entire manual before starting and operatingthe tractor.1. General precautions• Pay special attention to the safety labels on thetractor.• Do not operate the tractor or any implementattached to the tractor while under the influence ofalcohol, medication, controlled substances, or whileyou are fatigued.• Before allowing other people to use your tractor,explain them how to operate it and have them readthis manual before operating it.• Never wear loose, torn, or bulky clothing around thetractor. Loose, torn, or bulky clothing may catch onmoving parts or controls, leading to the risk of anaccident. Use additional safety items: hard hat,safety boots or shoes, eye and hearing protection,gloves, and so on, as appropriate or required.• Do not allow passengers to ride on any part of thetractor at anytime. The operator must remain in thetractor seat during operating the tractor.• Check brakes, clutch, linkage pins, and othermechanical parts for improper adjustment andwear. Replace worn or damaged parts promptly.Check the tightness of all nuts and bolts regularly.(For further details, see SERVICE INTERVALS onpage 87)• Keep your tractor clean. Buildups of dirt, grease,and trash may contribute to fires and lead topersonal injury.• Use only implements meeting the specificationslisted under IMPLEMENT LIMITATION TABLES onpage 26, or implements approved by KUBOTA.• Use proper weights on the front or rear of thetractor to reduce the risk of upsets. When using thefront loader, put an implement or ballast on the 3-point hitch to improve stability. Follow the safeoperating procedures specified in the implementmanual or the attachment manual.• The narrower the tread, the greater the risk of atractor upset. For maximum stability, adjust thewheels to the widest practical tread width for yourapplication.(See WHEEL ADJUSTMENT on page 82)(1) Rear wheels (A) Tread width• Do not modify the tractor. Unauthorizedmodification may affect the function of the tractor,which may result in personal injury.2. Precautions for CAB and ROPSKUBOTA recommends the use of a CAB or roll-overprotective-structures (ROPS), and seat belt in almostall applications. Combination of a CAB or ROPS andseat belt will reduce the risk of serious injury or death ifthe tractor should be upset.• Check for overhead clearance which may interferewith a CAB or ROPS.• Set the parking brake and stop the engine. Removeany obstructions which may prevent raising orfolding the ROPS. Do not allow any bystander.Always perform functions of CAB or ROPS from astable position at the rear of the tractor. Hold thetop of the ROPS securely when raising or folding it.Make sure that all pins are installed and locked.• If the CAB or ROPS is loosened or removed for anyreason, make sure that all parts are reinstalledcorrectly before operating the tractor.• Never modify or repair any structural member of aCAB or ROPS because welding, bending, drilling,grinding, or cutting it may weaken the structure.
