Careful operation is your best insurance against anaccident. Read this section carefully before operatingthe machine. All operators, whether experienced ornot, should read this and other related manuals beforeoperating the mower or any attachment on it. It is theowner's obligation to instruct all operators in safeoperation.This cutting machine is capable of amputating handsand feet and throwing objects. Failure to observe thefollowing safety instructions could result in seriousinjury or death.1. BEFORE OPERATING(1) Know your equipment and its limitations. Read thisentire manual before attempting to start and operatethe machine.(2) Know the controls and how to stop quickly.(3) Pay special attention to the warning, caution anddanger labels on the machine itself.(4) KUBOTA recommends the use of a ROPS (Roll OverProtective Structure) and seat belt in almost allapplications. This combination will reduce the riskof serious injury or death should the machine tipover. This machine is intended to use on flat terrain.(1) Seat belt (2) ROPS(5) Always use the seat belt if the machine has a ROPS.Never fasten the seat belt without a ROPS. Check theseat belt daily and replace if frayed or damaged.(6) Never modify or repair a ROPS. Welding, bending,drilling or cutting any portion of the ROPS willweaken the ROPS structure. If any structuralmember is damaged, replace the entire structure atyour local KUBOTA dealer.(7) Do not operate the machine or any attachmentswhile under the influence of alcohol, medication,controlled substances or when fatigued.(8) Check brakes, clutch, and other mechanical partsfor correct adjustment and wear. Replace worn ordamaged parts promptly. Check the tightness of allnuts and bolts regularly. (For further details, seeMAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENTS section.)(9) Keep all shields and guards in place. Replace anythat are damaged or missing.(10) Carefully check the vicinity before operating themachine or any attachments to it. Clear the workarea of objects (wires, rocks, etc.) that might bepicked up and thrown. Do not allow any bystandersaround or near machine during operation.(11) Before allowing other people to use your machine,explain how to operate and have them read thismanual before operation.(12) Never wear loose, torn, or bulky clothing aroundmachine. The clothing may catch on moving partsor controls. Wear and use any additional safetyitems such as hard hat, safety boots or shoes, eyeand hearing protection, gloves, etc. As appropriateor required.(13) Never allow passengers or non-qualified operatorson the machine at any time. You must operate themachine from the seat only.(14) Keep your machine clean. Accumulations of dirt,grease, and trash can contribute to fires and lead topersonal injury.(15) In addition to the design and configuration ofequipment, hazard control and accident preventionare dependent upon the awareness, concern, andprudence of personnel involved in the operation,transport, maintenance, and storage of equipmentor in the use and maintenance of facilities.(16) Use only implements recommended by KUBOTA.Use proper ballast to front or rear of machineto reduce the risk of upsets. Follow the "SAFEOPERATION" procedures, specified in the manualsincluded with equipment.(17) Follow the maintenance recommendations. See"Maintenance and Lubrication".(18) It is recommended that your machine be thoroughlyinspected at least once a year by an authorizedKUBOTA Dealer.(19) This machine is equipped with many safety devices.Do not attempt to remove or alter them.(20) The exhaust gas from the muffler is very hot.
