I've owned my DK4210SE for quite awhile. Yesterday, I had a challenging task removing an asphalt driveway. I was able to complete most of the work, but the tractor suddenly died this morning. After troubleshooting, I discovered that the fuel filter was clogged with ice and debris. I replaced the filter and the tractor started working again. I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of regular maintenance, especially in cold weather.

Did the fuel system stay clean throughout the winter or did you encounter more trouble once the deep cold set in? Ice in the filter typically indicates water in the fuel, which can infiltrate from condensation or a contaminated batch at the pump. I've had it happen before and ever since, I make sure to drain the water separator regularly and add a winter blend or anti-gel when temps start dropping. Some owners also install a heated fuel filter or wrap the lines with insulation if they frequently work in sub-freezing conditions. If you haven't already, it may be worth checking the tank for any sludge buildup before the next cold snap arrives.

I agree, regular maintenance saves days of downtime. bcs you found ice and debris, I'd suggest going a step further. first, check your fuel sediment bowl (if the DK4210 has an accessible one) and drain it to get any heavy debris/water out.
also, it might be time for a full fuel tank drain/flush if you suspect a lot of crud has built up after years of use. Better to get the gunk out now than have it clog a new filter next week!

Also make sure to check the fuel cap's breather, sometimes it gets blocked and messes with the fuel flow, mainly after you've been using it a lot.
