You get in, ease the levers forward, and notice that one track seems to be dragging or acting unpredictably. You can tell something’s not quite right. What steps do you take to track down the issue? Do you look at pressures, case drain, linkage, sensors, or perform some simple checks before you dig in further?

The first time my track started acting up, I seriously thought it was haunted. But it turned out to be just low case drain pressure and a sticky linkage. Now, I always keep it simple checking fluids, pressures, doing a quick visual inspection, and giving the levers a wiggle before jumping to conclusions about ghosts or tearing the whole machine apart.

I remember spending hours chasing down what I thought was an electrical problem, only to discover a crushed return hose.
Lesson learned: always check the obvious stuff first.
Now, I tackle it in this order: pressures, leaks, case drain, linkage play, and sensor codes.
It saves me time, money, and a whole lot of frustration.

There was this one time my track dragged like it was stuck in molasses while I was on a job, and I felt my heart drop. I shut everything down, checked the case drain, popped the panels, scanned for codes, and took a good look at the hoses and linkages. Spending ten minutes on the basics usually beats wasting three hours on wild guesses.
