While I was pushing my mid-sized Kubota through a long day, it suddenly lost its power.
Before I went ahead and took it apart, I decided to check the fuel, filters, and hydraulics first.
Let’s share some quick field tricks and smart initial checks to get that power back in no time.

I was there last month. First thing to check is your air filter, mine was completely clogged with dust, which was choking the engine. I pulled it out, gave it a good tap to clean it, and just like that, I had full power again. It was the easiest fix ever, and I felt a bit silly for not checking it sooner.

My fuel filter got clogged during haying season. I swapped it out in just ten minutes, and the tractor was running like new again.

Now, I always keep a spare in the toolbox because learning that lesson the hard way was no fun.

Lost power on my L4060 a while back, and it turned out to be a kinked fuel line that was partially collapsed.
It wasn’t completely blocked, so it would run, but it couldn’t get enough fuel under load.
Make sure to check all your lines for any damage or kinks before diving into anything major.

Start with the basics, bad diesel can really kill your power quickly. If you’ve had a sketchy fill-up recently, that could be the culprit. Drain the tank, put in some fresh fuel, and replace the filter. It’s a pain, but it’s way cheaper than chasing down problems in the injection system.
