this is my first winter using this Kubota and I'm thinking about tire studs for it
I’ve been looking for studs for my R4s, but the ribs aren't exactly deep
I originally wanted iGrips (SS-08) because the shouldered design keeps them from pushing too deep, but they won't ship to the US!
now I’m looking at Kold Kutters (#8, 3/8"). They are way cheaper, but they're just black oxide anybody have luck with those on gravel and dirt?
I’m also eyeing GripStuds (1100 model). They have those wide auger threads and a tungsten core, similar to the iGrips.

are they worth the extra cash, or should I just go with the Kold Kutters since I’m staying off the concrete?

Last winter, I dealt with the same problem using shallow-rib R4s. To start, I decided to try some budget studs on my gravel driveway just to see how well they'd perform. They did the job, but they definitely wore out faster than I hoped.

Last year, I took a chance on the cheaper studs since I wasn’t sure how much work I’d be doing in the winter. They had decent grip on dirt, but I ended up replacing a few of them mid-season. When I switched to GripStuds later, they definitely felt more robust.

After struggling for grip during a rough freeze-thaw week, I opted for GripStuds. They were pricier, but the tungsten tips lasted me the entire season. If you spend a lot of time on gravel, that extra investment might give you some peace of mind.

During my first winter with the Kubota, I found myself overanalyzing my choice of studs. I used Kold Kutters on a dirt lot that I take care of, and honestly, they held up better than I thought they would. They weren’t flawless, but for the price, they were a solid choice.
