Kubota MX5100 won't start after oil change

I have a 2014 Kubota MX5100 DT.

Today I changed the oil and it wont turn over afterwards. To begin, I cranked it and let it run about 5 minutes to warm it up. I then turned it off and then pulled both drain plugs to drain the oil, and after draining a few seconds I pulled the dipstick to allow more air to get oil to drain. I let it drain for a while until there were no more drips. I realized after I drained it that I left the bucket down which would make it harder to access to oil fill plug….so I attempted to crank it with bucket down, to raise it – with no oil in it. I figured for the 5 seconds it’d take to raise the bucket it’d be no issue. Well, I turned the key to the right and it clicked….almost like the battery was out but it didn’t turn over. So, I assumed there was some low oil safety switch activated so I just dealt with it and manually poured one quart at a time slowly. I assumed after 1-2 quarts it’d start so I could raise the bucket and use a funnel for my 2.5gallon bucket. It didn’t….so I continued putting 1 quart at a time in it ( spilling some). So, I got what I assumed to be 8 quarts or so and it still wouldn’t turn over. I forgot to mention, I put a charger on the battery and it immediately went to green – full charge. I checked the dip stick and it looked like the oil level was maybe ¼” over the high oil mark…so I removed one plug and took one quart out and then checked dipstick again and it showed right at the full oil mark – still won’t turn over. The PTO is not on and the seat switch is not activated.

Please let me know what would be causing it to not turn over, after simply draining the oil and refilling it.

Thanks

If your engine won't crank because of low oil pressure, try this: First, make sure you have enough oil. Then, check the battery and all safety switches to involve seat, PTO, neutral, and parking brake. After that, turn the key off for half a minute, and then try starting it again.

Also, check the clutch safety switch and starter relay because if they're not lined up right or are broken, they could be stopping the engine from cranking. Loose battery terminals or rusty ground spots can cause the same kind of issues, too.

NO luck. i disconnected the battery etc...no luck. it clicks only.

UPDATE - i had a bad positive battery cable. Replaced it and all good!

So glad to hear you figured it out! A faulty cable can really throw a wrench in things, can’t it? I appreciate you keeping us in the loop.
