Fuel shut off solenoid

I'll start off here to help get things going.
I have an old M7870 kubota, it has a CAV style injector pump, it stopped on me a few weeks ago, leave it for a few moments and it would mostly start up again then run for variable short time sometimes only a few seconds however I did get it home. I eliminated all other possibilities and came to the conclusion that it must be the fuel shutoff solenoid. I thought I would have to pull the injector pump as it is hidden on the engine side of the pump, now that would have been a real mongrel as the 3rd bolt on the pump is near impossible to get to. Anyhow I managed to get the solenoid by taking off the inlet manifold and getting access down the back there. I was an easy fix by removing the little plunger and spring and putting it back to plug the hole and just use the manual fuel shut off to stop it. Only problem is I have a bit of a fuel drip from the area of the solenoid even though I replaced the O ring. The fuel drip was there before this problem so maybe was part of the failure, matbe the drip is coming through the centre of the solenoid???? When I get time I will pull it out again and find a plug to seal the hole or just buy a new solenoid but I am cheap.
